Hi, my name is Joe Nibali
I have had a passion and desire for developing games for almost as long as I can remember. It began years ago when I broke apart and modded Fallout 3 and New Vegas using their Creation Engine (Back then the modding tool was known as G.E.C.K.) Later I went to college to pursue a degree in Computer Science, and graduated from Oregon State University in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. During my time at Oregon State I began working with Jordan Magnuson from Necessary games. This involved taking previous games he made in Adobe Flash and converting them to work on modern systems. Working with a team we rebuilt all of Jordan's games from the ground up in Game Maker Studio 2 to run on HTML5. All these final products are available from Jordan's Itch.IO page. Afterwards I began teaching myself Unreal Engine, and developed my own side projects to learn more about the engine. From there I began participating in multiple game jams. One of these jams was the 2024 Extraterrestrial Terror Game Jam event, where I worked as the team's lead programmer and technical designer. This game went on to be the highest rated game submitted in the jam itself. Afterwards I also participated in the "Mental Health Game Dev Championship". My title Growing Pains, where I worked both as the team's lead programmer and designer, was nominated as a finalist in the game jam overall. Being the lead designer in this project I designed and implemented all aspects of gameplay, making sure all intricacies were given adequate attention. All of these titles are listed on my online portfolio, with links to both their store pages and source code. During the development of all these titles I have also been working in the IT field. Growing my skill set in the tech field as a whole, and strengthening my skills as a team member. Full resume: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1g64_O5WgqcVgfUrEtYwB0WErnqUEV_4T/view?usp=sharing |
